One Negro Woman Charlotte 1854
A year ago I found the will of William Allmond on an index of wills in Isle of Wight County, Virginia on Ancestry. It's taken me a year to circle back to look for the will on FamilySearch and I found it!
Tumblr media
It's so hard to read but I do see "one Negro woman Charlotte", "one Negro boy Sam", "one Negro girl Hester" and "one Negro girl Salina".

Seeing my 3rd great-grandmother Charlotte and her children listed on here among the kitchen utensils and feather beds is just ... wow.
In the section with Charlotte, I was looking for Anthony, my second great-granduncle who was about a year old when this will was drafted in 1854 but I don't see him. My 2nd great-grandfather Moses was not yet born when this will was drafted.
I recognize Sam and Hester because I see them on the 1870 Census but I don't recognize Salina. The other daughter that I see on the 1870 Census is Liney so that is most likely Salina.

Now I really wonder because there's also Malinda who I see on the 1880 Census. Charlotte and Hester are living with her and her husband. Her age is consistent with Salina.

Windsor Express Stymied By Moncton Magic - But Coach Jones Remains Hopeful
Windsor Express Stymied By Moncton Magic – But Coach Jones Remains Hopeful
The (10-10) Moncton Magic rolled into Windsor, from their harbor side den in the Southern region of New Bruinswick, to  wrestle away their second NBL Canada win over the  (7-10) Windsor Express who are nestled in down in Southwestern Ontario 123 – 108.  In besting their previous 101 – 89 margin of defeat over the Express  earlier this month by 4 points, the Magic some what exposed what coach…

Birth Record for 2nd Great Granduncle Anthony Allmond
I found the birth record for my 2nd great granduncle Anthony Allmond. He was born May 15, 1853. You can see from the label that the record was “filmed out of sequence”.
Tumblr media
On the second page that should show the mother seems to be from a different page because it doesn’t match up. What you do see is William Allmond listed as owner.
I wonder if there’s another scan of this document somewhere else. I found this one on FamilySearch.

Birth Record for 2nd Great Grandfather Moses Allmond
I've been looking for the death certificate for one of my 2nd great grandfathers because I don't know when he died or where he is buried. I know where his brother and one of his half sisters are but not him. I didn't find the death record but I found a birth record. One thing that it confirms is the last enslaver family for his mother. Look at column for "Father's Name in full if Child be free and born in wedlock, or Name of Owner if Child be born a Slave." FamilySearch transcribed Susan Allmond as his father.

I’ve also found this information on the Virginia Slave Index after finding the actual record.

Anthony, Moses brother, is listed just before him on the index. William Allmond, who passed away in 1854, is listed as his owner. (I noted the different spellings for Allmond. The name has been spelled in as many ways as you can imagine across the various records I’ve examined.)
